STEP INTO THE LIGHT
STEP INTO THE LIGHT…MEET LONDON NEW AND EXCITING CONCEPT STORE…….. DARK ROOM -By Karen
You can always count on London as being a city that always has something new to offer in terms of alternative stores and shopping experiences.
To further add to London’s portfolio of cool concept stores, look no further, as Darkroom, is the new kid on the block when it comes to new and exciting retail environments.
Situated on the very trendy Lambs Conduit Street, Darkroom is a clever new concept in retail, which mingles fashion with interior design showcasing a mix of bespoke jewelry, belts and bags alongside interior items such as designer cushions, rugs, ceramics and lighting.
It is the perfect fusion of fashion, home and lifestyles with many of the products comprising of one off designer collaborations, such as David David, Fred Butler, H by Harris, Noel Stuart, jewelry designer Florian, and Corrie Williamson.
The Darkroom also hosts a calendar of bi-monthly art and sculpture exhibitions. Having just launched their 'Into Africa' series - a showcase of luxury accessories inspired by indigenous African craft - they've also invited a selection of designers to produce a unique products ranging from jewelry, to art prints, wallets and bags. The series will be sold alongside authentic vintage African pieces carefully sourced founders Rhonda Drakeford and Lulu Roper Caldbeck.
Everything about this store is meticulously considered, from the product to the environment. The curation of both the space and the product is faultless and not only do I personally want EVERYTHING in it, I would quiet happily live in the space too!
A job for the girls indeed! Well done Lulu and Rhonda for delivering such a spectacular store!
After visiting Darkroom I can certainly say that I have now “seen the light”!!!

TANGERINE DREAMS
TANGERINE DREAMS……By Karen
If there is one colour that is set to make a splash this season, Tangerine is surely set to do just that!
The SS11 catwalks were filled with fresh citrus colours, but one colour certainly stood out from the other fruits in the bowl, and that was Orange.
Not the easiest of colours to wear I hear you say, and to an extent I would be inclined to agree, especially those of us that live in the colder parts of the globe, when in summer a tan comprises of going from blue to white.
But saying that, I am not saying that we all have to dress up like an oversized citrus fruit instead you can channel the colour in perhaps a less “out there” approach.
Jonathan Saunders rocked the citrus colour palette this season, with orange lacing its way through most of the collection, whether it be a vibrant stripe or instead a full on top to toe ensemble.
Other designers also rocking the tangerine vibe included PPQ, Richard Nichol, Marni, Julian McDonald, Fendi, Paul and Jo and Vivienne Westwood.
Not only a hot trend on the catwalks, Orange and its other citrus friends are hot new colours on the beauty front too.
Yes Ladies its time to throw out your nude lipsticks and add some va va voom to your face in the shape of bright orange lips!!
Even less forgiving that orange clothing, orange lipstick must ONLY be work with tan I say, or for those of you with olive and dark skin (I hate you!!) you can wear it to your hearts content!!
I personally love NARS shade “Morange” , it’s a more reddy orange, and easier to wear, if like me, you complexion resembles Mortitia Adams after 3 months of winter.
And for those wanting to live life on the edge, I recommend MAC “ Morange” for that full on orange glow.
I have a feeling that this summers key trends are not going to be for the more conservative amongst us, its bright and vibrant colours all the way!
So don’t be shy, its time to embrace this seasons fresh and punchy new colours.
Don’t be a wall flower…be a citrus fruit instead??!!!
