MAWI STORE LAUNCH!!!

ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR AT MAWI’S STORE LAUNCH BY KAREN

Not only have Londoners been embracing uncharacteristically warm weather for this time of the year, many of the fashion community were treated to a double whammy of fun and sun with the launch of Mawi’s new store on East London’s Calvert Avenue this month.

The party went off to a bang with a gathering of more than 500+ die hard Mawi fans including the likes of Jade Parfitt, Jasmine Guinness, Bip Ling, Roisin Murphy, Tata Naka, Carolyn Massey, not to mention Daisy Lowe and Margot Bowman spinning old school classics on the wheels of steel.

Mawi Snow Queen cocktails kept on flowing throughout the evening, and to go with the fairground theme edible nostalgia was on offer, in the form of sparkly gingerbread lollypops, popcorn and also bright pink meringues.

A big marquee was also pitched outside the shop, housing old skool fairground games, one of which filled with over 1500 pounds worth of  Mawi vouchers strapped onto mini teddy bears, the aim being to “grab-a-teddy” with a crane like metal claw!

The interior of the store was so packed, that to be honest, it was hard to get a glimpse of much beyond the vintage bunting adorned ceiling and the queue for the cocktails.

I can honestly say I have NEVER seen so many fashionisa’s crammed into a small space.

And for those wanting to think beyond what cocktail to have next, entertainment also came in the form of Tarot Card readings from Marawa the Amazing, and Charleston dancing rounding up the evening from The Bee’s Knees.

The whole night had been curated to perfection and certainly rang true of Mawi’s unique and individual aesthetic and creative approach, not to mention her wicked sense of humour.

Hats off to Mawi and her team, its great to see labels like Mawi stay true to their creative routes and thrive in what has been a very tough few years without compromising their unique style.

I don’t think there was any of need to consult the Tarot reader to confirm that for the foreseeable future, Mawi’s brand will be going from strength to strength!

Well done Mawi and her team ! xxx
